Insulation remediation, done properly.
When insulation measures fail, putting them right takes a contractor who can be trusted to do the job properly the first time. Pyramid Eco is regularly asked to advise on and remediate poor-quality insulation installations — much of it carried out under the ECO scheme — for the energy suppliers, funders and housing providers left to resolve it.
When ECO-era insulation fails, the obligation doesn’t go away
The end of ECO4 has reshaped the insulation market. A large number of installers have scaled back or left the industry altogether, and a significant volume of work delivered during the scheme’s busiest years was not installed to standard.
Where measures have failed, the cost and disruption of putting them right can far outweigh the original installation — and the responsibility usually sits with the supplier, scheme administrator or warranty provider rather than the installer that did the work.
The original installers often can’t or won’t return to fix it. That leaves obligated parties needing a contractor they can rely on to remediate measures correctly, document the work properly, and treat residents well throughout.
Installers have left the market
Many of the firms behind ECO-era work have scaled back or gone into administration — and won’t return to fix defective measures.
The obligation sits upstream
Ofgem-obligated suppliers, scheme administrators and warranty bodies carry the responsibility — and the penalties — when measures fail.
Residents are still in the homes
Remediation has to be handled cleanly and respectfully, with occupants kept informed at every stage.
Why obligated parties ask Pyramid to remediate
Pyramid Eco has built its reputation on quality delivery and clear communication, not on chasing volume at the expense of standards. Because we haven’t cut corners, we’re not tied up remediating our own work — which means we have the capacity, and the credibility, to put other people’s right.
We’re approached for two reasons. First, for advice: assessing what’s actually gone wrong, what’s salvageable, and what needs to be removed and redone. Second, for delivery: carrying out the remediation to standard, keeping residents informed, and providing the documentation that suppliers, funders and warranty bodies need to close the job out.
