Our Carbon Reduction Plan

We are committed to making our business as sustainable as possible – it’d be weird if we weren’t, right?

That’s why we have committed to a Carbon Reduction Plan, aiming to reach net zero by 2030.

We measure our current carbon footprint, and our calculations show Scope 1 emissions of 12,685 kgCO2e. Click here to download the full carbon footprint calculation: Pyramid_Eco_Carbon_Footprint_2024.

Here are our commitments to improving this:

1. Summary

Pyramid Eco is committed to leading the retrofit and energy efficiency sector with integrity, innovation, and a robust approach to sustainability. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our roadmap to significantly lower our carbon footprint across all operations, supply chains, and service delivery. In line with UK government guidance (PPN 06/21) and the Net Zero Strategy, this plan demonstrates our structured commitment to reaching net-zero emissions by 2030.

2. Current Emissions Baseline

Objective:

Establish a robust and transparent understanding of current operational emissions to drive targeted reduction strategies.

Scope 1 Emissions:

  • Direct emissions from company-owned vehicles and on-site project delivery teams (e.g., site managers and install vans).

Scope 2 Emissions:

  • Indirect emissions from purchased electricity for offices and storage units.

Scope 3 Emissions:

  • Emissions from upstream and downstream value chain activities, including:
    • Subcontractor vehicle use.
    • Materials transport and logistics.
    • Employee commuting and remote working.
    • Waste disposal and insulation material off-cuts.
    • Manufacture of insulation materials and ventilation equipment.

Actions:

  • Conduct full GHG inventory across Scopes 1–3 using the GHG Protocol.
  • Align reporting with SECR and ESG frameworks.
  • Map emissions hotspots across project lifecycle stages.

3. Reduction Targets

Objective:

Set clear and evidence-based emissions reduction targets aligned with government frameworks and the PAS 2035/2030 standard.

Short-Term Target (by 2028):

  • Reduce Scopes 1 & 2 emissions by 50% against 2024 baseline.
  • Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 60% through supplier collaboration, process change, and innovation.

Long-Term Target (by 2030):

  • Achieve Net-Zero across all operations and supply chain emissions.

4. Carbon Reduction Strategies

Energy Efficiency:

  • Retrofit all office and storage facilities with high-efficiency lighting, HVAC, and insulation.
  • Digitise operations to reduce unnecessary site visits and paperwork.

Renewable Energy:

  • Install solar PV on Pyramid Eco’s premises (where viable).
  • Source 100% renewable electricity via REGO-backed suppliers.

Low-Carbon Transport:

  • Transition Pyramid’s fleet to electric vehicles by 2028.
  • Implement EV charging infrastructure at key depots.
  • Promote public transport, cycling, and car-sharing for staff.

Sustainable Procurement:

  • Prioritise low-carbon insulation, ventilation, and heating materials.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to reduce embodied carbon.
  • Standardise delivery consolidation to reduce mileage.

Construction Waste Management:

  • Expand use of reusable packaging.
  • Establish partnerships with insulation waste recycling centres.
  • Train site managers to monitor and report waste segregation compliance.

Carbon Offsetting:

  • Invest in Gold Standard carbon offset projects only as a last resort.
  • Explore partnerships with local authorities on biodiversity offset schemes and tree planting.

5. Monitoring, Measurement & Reporting

Objective:

Ensure transparency and accountability in tracking and communicating progress.

Monitoring:

  • Deploy real-time energy and transport tracking tools.
  • Use job-specific carbon calculators for project-level analysis.
  • Quarterly internal environmental reviews by Compliance Manager.

Reporting:

  • Annual Carbon Report published on Pyramid Eco’s website.
  • Disclose emissions to stakeholders, clients, and procurement platforms (e.g., CDP, SECR).
  • Feed data into retrofit programme reviews and funding body reporting.

6. Supply Chain & Subcontractor Engagement

Objective:

Create shared ownership of carbon goals across Pyramid’s delivery network.

Actions:

  • Integrate carbon considerations into supplier selection and onboarding.
  • Require key suppliers to submit annual carbon footprint reports.
  • Offer CPD-accredited training on low-carbon best practices.
  • Create emissions KPIs for major subcontractors.

7. Governance & Accountability

Objective:

Define roles and structures to ensure strategic oversight and implementation.

Governance Structure:

  • Sustainability Lead: Michael Zohouri (Director) responsible for executive direction.
  • Compliance Manager (Annie): Oversees all carbon reporting, ESG compliance, and contractor onboarding.
  • Project Managers: Track site-level sustainability performance.
  • Green Champion Network: Site managers and back-office staff empowered to lead local improvements.

8. Continuous Improvement

Objective:

Ensure Pyramid Eco remains adaptive, progressive, and a leader in low-carbon retrofit.

Innovation Focus:

  • Collaborate with product manufacturers to trial new materials (e.g., carbon-negative insulation).
  • Pilot data-driven retrofitting for optimal material use.
  • Encourage installer-led innovations in material reuse and job setup.

Feedback & Learning:

  • Set up internal feedback loops and innovation forums.
  • Annual staff workshops to share lessons learned and sustainability wins.

9. Implementation Timeline

Year 1 (2025):

  • GHG baseline and tracking systems.
  • Begin fleet transition planning.
  • Launch internal carbon awareness campaign.

Years 2–3 (2026–2027):

  • Energy upgrades to facilities.
  • Onboard sustainability-compliant suppliers.
  • Pilot low-waste installation protocols.

Years 4–5 (2028–2029):

  • Complete 75% EV transition.
  • Launch public reporting platform.
  • Achieve 40% Scope 1 & 2 emissions reduction.

Beyond 2030:

  • Move toward full net-zero supply chain operations.
  • Innovate in closed-loop retrofit delivery.

10. Conclusion

Pyramid Eco recognises that achieving a net zero home retrofit is not just a business goal but a shared societal responsibility. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines a clear, credible, and actionable roadmap that aligns with our long-term growth objectives, public sector commitments, and global climate targets.

We’re committed to transparency, innovation, and leadership in creating a decarbonised, equitable future — one home at a time.
